Outdoor leisure
Great Yarmouth Services Ltd is responsible for a range of services related to Great Yarmouth Borough Council owned outdoor leisure and sport facilities. Facilities available in Great Yarmouth are:
- eight full size football pitches located at Beaconsfield Recreation Ground, Wellesley Recreation Ground, Mill Lane Recreation Ground, Gorleston Recreation and Magdalen Recreation Ground
- 23 mini football pitches located at Beaconsfield Recreation Ground, Mill Lane Recreation Ground and Magdalen Recreation Ground
- two rugby pitches at Cobholm Recreation Ground
- two cricket pitches at Beaconsfield Recreation Ground
- six bowling greens located on North Drive, Britannia Greens and Gorleston Cliffs
- an athletics track and field at Wellesley Recreation Ground
- a 4G multi sports area at Wellesley Recreation Ground
- six tennis courts on Gorleston Cliffs - currently unavailable due to refurbishment
- a pitch and putt course at Bure Park
- a putting course on Gorleston Cliffs
Services undertaken to ensure these facilities are kept in peak condition and fit or purpose include:
- maintaining the playing services - grass cutting, weed and pest management, surface repair and ensuring adequate soil drainage
- line marking, including football pitches are in accordance with relevant sporting bodies regulations (such as FIFA and ECB), without the use of additives that may prove detrimental to the grass
- supply, erection and storage of goal posts, crossbars and nets
- landscaping
- management of changing rooms and attendants
- the letting and hire of the sports pitches and managing their use
